Dead dolphin found in Alex to be embalmed: NIOF

CAIRO - 24 September 2018: A dolphin found dead in Tulip beach in Glim neighborhood in the coastal city of Alexandria has been moved to a branch of the National Institute For Oceanography and Fisheries (NIOF) to be embalmed and displayed at the museum of stuffed animals.

Having examined the dead dolphin, several bruises were found on its front side, which indicates that it died after it bumped into a boat, said Suzan Khalif, the head of the institute in a press release on Monday.

The dead dolphin which weighs about about 70 kg and is 2.4 meters long, would be easy to embalm, Khalif also said.

It belongs to a species of common short-beaked dolphins called (Delphinus delphis), she added.
