Environment ministry: Oil slick in Gulf of Suez controlled

CAIRO - 2 August 2018: The Environment Ministry said that an oil spill spotted in the Gulf of Suez was cleaned up on Thursday.

In a statement, the ministry said that the oil spill caused no water pollution.

On Wednesday, the National Institute of Marine Sciences and Fisheries announced that it monitored an oil slick in the Gulf of Suez off Adabiya area.

A report that was referred to Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Khaled Abdel Ghaffar said the spill extends over and area of around one kilometer in length and one meter in width.
